After a one-year hiatus, the Summerlin® Festival of Arts returns to Downtown Summerlin® Oct. 9-10. The hallmark, outdoor festival, now in its 25th year, features the works of more than 100 fine artists and craftsmen from Southern Nevada and surrounding states, each carefully selected by a jury of local art experts. This free event, which is set on The Lawn and under the Pavilion at Downtown Summerlin, offers free parking and a vibrant, lively atmosphere for the entire family.
Here are just a few of the artists you can expect to see at the Summerlin Festival of Arts!
A Las Vegas local, photographer Bill Kutcher uses high-resolution digital cameras to capture a diverse assortment of landscape images throughout the western and southwestern regions of the United States.
Hailing from Arizona, Michael George’s vivid sculptures are cast in acrylic, bronze and stainless steel poured in multiple layers of flawless transparent colors. His sculptures are hand shaped to form an abstract structure then polished to a high finish
A figurative and abstract celebrated artist, Las Vegan Niki Sands combines surrealism and cubism painting styles to create whimsical yet complexed and colorful figures in oil, cold wax mediums or acrylic on canvas, wood and panel.
Holly Kaufmann, new to the festival, is known for her JunkYard Jewelry that creatively transforms vintage and industrial components into contemporary necklaces, cuffs, bracelets, and earrings. Unexpected materials such as vintage light bulbs, springs and washers are all integrated into her one-of-a-kind designs.
Harut Hakobyan is a master of mixed media. He uses acrylic paints and molding paste to create each unique work of art. New to the festival, Hakobyan paints with pallet knives and brushes for enhanced textures and applies a water-based varnish as a finishing touch.
