International Women’s Day is a moment to recognize the incredible women who inspire us every day — for their achievements, their resilience, and the impact they make, big or small.

Today, Downtown Summerlin proudly celebrates Lauren Montz, owner of Pure Barre, for leading the way as both a small business owner and a woman-owned business. Her dedication, strength, and leadership embody the spirit of this day.

Q: What inspired you to open your own business?

Pure Barre inspired me to open my own business. I worked for the brand in Nashville and had such a positive experience that I knew I wanted to bring it to Las Vegas and build something of my own. When I opened in 2010, there were only about 30 locations nationwide. I loved being part of an emerging brand and helping grow a technique I truly believed in.

Q: Why Pure Barre?

Because it works — physically and mentally. It’s a challenging, low-impact workout that builds strength and confidence. But even more than the workout, it’s the community. Pure Barre creates a space where women feel supported, empowered, and strong.

Q: Who’s one female you look up to and why?

I’m honestly most inspired by the women around me — our teachers and our members. The women who show up for 50 minutes for themselves, and the women who give 50+ minutes to create a welcoming, empowering space for others. Our Vegas Valley community is full of strong, dedicated women who inspire me daily. It’s always been about the team and the community.

Q: For those not familiar with Pure Barre, what would you encourage them to know before trying a class?

You don’t have to be flexible, coordinated, or “in shape” to start. Pure Barre is for every fitness level. It’s low-impact but incredibly effective — and our teachers guide you every step of the way. Just show up. We’ll take care of the rest. It may look small and controlled, but don’t underestimate it — those tiny movements create big results.

Q: Best part about having a small business at DTS?

Fitness on the Lawn, hands down. We’ve been lift, tone, burning, on the Lawn the second Tuesday of every month since we opened in DTS in November 2017. Introducing hundreds of people to Pure Barre as the sun sets over Red Rock is truly special. All the events and activations are great, but Fitness on the Lawn is by far my favorite. Join us starting in April!

Cheers to Lauren and all the amazing women making their mark.
